IMPORTANCE OF IRON ON PLANT NUTRITION
The most important activity in the plants is photosynthesis. Plants must carry out photosynthesis in order to produce nutrients. Chlorophyll is necessary for ohotosynthesis and iron is necessary for Chlorophyll synthesis. Iron is necessary element for nitrogen intake and also protein synthesis. Iron increases the thickness of leaves and provides darkened leaves , also it increases the efficiency of sun to the plants which resulted with higher yield. The light yellow color in the plants is the sympton of iron deficiency. The iron deficiency usually occours in the following conditions.
a-Excessive phosphorus and manganese application.
b-Cold climatic conditions
c-Excessive calcareous soil
d-High Ph soil
The excessive or unconscious iron application is resulted with phytotoxicity in the plants.
